Brighton Neighborhood Association Leaders,

Recently a letter was sent to you regarding the Brighton Police Department’s participation in the nationwide community campaign called National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009.

Unfortunately, due to the current economic conditions it is with regret that I must inform you of a recent decision to change the way that we will be celebrating this year’s event. We will be scaling back the event and will no longer be providing food and entertainment. We will still be hosting an open house. Inside the Police Department building, there will be information about child safety, stranger danger, personal safety, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), home security, and bike safety. There will also be a display of Police Department equipment and vehicles. The open house will run from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, August 4th.

OPEN HOUSE
2300 Elmwood Avenue

Tuesday, August 4, 2009
4:00 pm to 7:30 pm

National Night Out is a celebration of communities coming together to fight crime. Part of this initiative is for community members to show their support of NNO by turning their front lights on. We are asking all Brighton residents to take a stand against crime and turn on their outside front lights on this special day, Tuesday August 4, 2009.

Please spread the word to your neighbors about the change to our event and encourage them to come to the open house.

Sincerely,

Mark Henderson, Captain
Staff Service Commanding Officer
